11/02/12 Next Appointment

Hello to all, I hope this finds everyone doing well. I can't believe that it's November 1st already. I think this year went by fast. Though, I hear that the older you get the faster the time goes by. My retainer check is on the 14th of this month. I'm excited and hopefully will be told that I only need to wear my retainer at night. It is still a pain to have to take it off to have a snack while I'm at work. The kids at school are starting to give me weird looks when I take them out or put them back on. I also end up leaving them out for longer times than I probably should. So far it hasn't seemed to hurt anything. I always thought I was a patient person, but am so impatient with my braces and retainer! Time to get dinner ready. Take care and have a great day!

Hello, Rosy. I got braces for the first time at age 49. Sorry, but I couldn't stand it. I commend you for hanging in there with the retainer.

I couldn't take it either...do people even really need braces or are they just cosmetic?

Hi,
Sorry I haven't replied. I had a hard time figuring out how. Anonymous, thank you for your encouraging words. I a still wearing my retainer, bit at might only. I had ,y final visit with the orthodontist and don't have to see em again unless I have issues with the retainer.

Older braves, I understand how you feel. If I had to do it again, I don't know that I would. However, I did not get mine for cosmetic reasons. I had an extreme open bite and very few of my teeth met. I was supposedly at risk for wearing down ,y teeth and having to have multiple root canals done. I'm not sure that I believe all of that was true. I do hope that people who are older do a lot of investigating before they decide to get them. Parents should, too.
